A Highly Stretchable, Ultra-Stable, and Multifunctional Liquid Metal-Based Triboelectric Fiber

This work reports an innovative liquid metal (LM)-based triboelectric fiber (TF) enhanced with silver nanowires (Ag NWs), demonstrating highly stretchable, stable, and multifunctional characteristics. Compared to existing technologies, this fiber boasts highly stretchable and strain-insensitive electrodes, capable of being activated by mere slight stretching, laying the foundation for the convenient implementation of subsequent triboelectric sensing. Furthermore, leveraging the introduced charge-trapping mechanism, the electrical output of the TF has undergone significant enhancement, further bolstering its sensing capabilities. Given textiles' importance and potential for additive functionalities, the fiber also demonstrates promise in thermal management and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding.
