Room-Temperature Fourier Transform Spectroscopy from the UV to the THz with a Thin-Membrane Pyroelectric Detector

Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) is a mature technique for extracting chemical composition from real-world material samples in various forms. While excellent solutions exist for spectrometers covering near-infrared or mid-infrared ranges, data analysis techniques like Principal Component Analysis (PCA) [1] or Artificial intelligence (AI) utilize complex data sets to improve results by identifying relevant features in other spectral regions, if they are made available in the acquired data. Unfortunately, many instruments lack spectral coverage at wavelengths exceeding $16\ \mu \mathrm{m}(625\ \text{cm}^{-1})$ due to the limitations of photodetectors and beamsplitters.
