CLEO®/Europe-EQEC 2025 Non-Degenerate Photonic Sources for Entanglement-Based Quantum Networks

Within the broader scope of quantum technologies, a significant line of research is focused on the development of a Quantum Internet [1]. The primary goal of a quantum internet is to enable the secure transmission of quantum states over long distances. This is challenged by the vulnerability of quantum states to decoherence, which is caused by losses or disturbances occurring along the communication channel, particularly over extended distances. To mitigate those losses, each connection between two nodes must be divided into multiple segments over which entanglement can be faithfully distributed. Adjacent segments are then connected using entanglement swapping operations within a Quantum Repeater architecture.
