Mode-Locked Monolithic Ti:Sapphire Laser with 17 GHz Repetition Rate

Frequency combs from mode-locked lasers that combine multi-GHz repetition rates with bandwidths supporting hundreds of modes, kilowatt-level peak powers, and low phase noise are of interest [1], [2]. We developed a novel Kerr-lens mode-locked monolithic Ti:Sa laser with 17 GHz repetition rate, a peak power up to 290 W, an average power up to 1060 mWand a frequency comb with approximately 300 modes. The monolithic design results in a robust laser with low phase-noise. The monolithic design is scalable to repetition rates above 100 GHz.
