Spatially Single-Cycle Polaritons in 2D Materials

Single-cycle pulses—compact waveforms confined to a single oscillation period—rely on ultrawide spectral bandwidth [1] for applications ranging from high-resolution spectroscopy [2] to precision control of wave-matter interactions [3]. However, extending this idea into the spatial domain, aiming for a pulse with a single spatial oscillation, yet without relying on an ultrawide spectral bandwidth, introduces a new and intriguing paradigm for highly tuneable localized wave phenomena.
