Accurate Acquisition of Pressure Signals with Optimal Amplitude Using Flexible Tactile Sensor Array

Conventional single-point tactile sensors often fail to achieve accurate alignment with arteries and metacarpals beneath the skin, limiting their ability to capture signals with sufficient amplitude. To address this, we present a flexible active-matrix tactile sensor array designed for real-time measurement of spatially distributed pressure signals with optimal amplitude and enhanced signal-to-noise ratios. By integrating piezoelectric sensors with dual-gate metal-oxide thin-film transistors on a polyimide substrate, the flexible sensor array demonstrates exceptional performance in detecting arterial pulse waves with maximum amplitude, enabling reliable speech recognition, and accurately capturing enhanced hand gestures, all without the need for precise positioning over the sensitive areas.
