The Application of the Short Chirp GPR System to the Shield Machine

In recent years, the detection of obstacles ahead has become increasingly important in underground tunnel excavation using shield machines in urban areas. To address this, it has become more common to equip the cutter heads of shield machines with Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR). Previously, pulse-type ground-penetrating radar (GPR) was commonly used, but this report discusses the adoption of chirptype GPR, which enhances forward exploration capabilities.
