A Broad Band-Pass Frequency Selective Rasorber Based on Screen Printed Conductive Ink

In this letter, a broad band-pass frequency selective rasorber (FSR) using the screen-printed conductive ink for lossy layer is proposed. The proposed FSR includes a lossy layer integrated with resistive films and a multilayer lossless frequency selective surface (FSS) comprising patch and grid structures. Under normal incidence, simulated and measured −1 dB transmission bandwidths of the proposed FSR are 9.7–12.3 GHz and 9.4–12.2 GHz with minimum insertion losses (IL) at 11 GHz (0.16 dB) and 11.1 GHz (0.31 dB), corresponding to fractional bandwidths of 23.6% and 25.9%, respectively. In addition, the bandwidth with |S11| < −10 dB ranges from 4.4 to 17.6 GHz and from 3.4 to 18.6 GHz under simulation and measurement, respectively. Within 30° of oblique incidences, the FSR can maintain stable performances for both TE and TM polarizations. By using the screen-printing process in fabrication of FSR, not only manufacturing costs can be reduced, but also design flexibility can be enhanced. The proposed FSR has significant potential for applications in stealth radomes and electromagnetic interference (EMI) suppression fields.
