An Efficient MPPT Algorithm for Bistable PEH Associated with SEH and pSSHI

This paper describes the joint implementation of a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm and electrical interface for bistable Piezoelectric Energy Harvesters (PEH) in inter-well motion. We show that the proposed MPPT has a tracking accuracy of 88%. The MPPT does not require power hungry measurements and relies on the hysteresis control of the optimal conduction angle for Standard Energy Harvesting (SEH) and parallel Synchronous Switch Harvesting on Inductor (pSSHI) interfaces. We achieve a maximum power of 9.7 mW with an acceleration amplitude of $8 \text{m.s}^{-2}$ at 70 Hz. The obtained bandwidth is 8.6 Hz. The implementation is made with a microcontroller and external off-the-shelf components.
