Monitoring IoT MQTT Messaging Using xAPI

The Internet of Things (IoT) can be defined as a network of interconnected things or devices that share information about the environment and people to offer intelligent computing services to improve quality of life. Normally manufacturers of IoT devices and solutions drive the costs to the minimum. then, to maintain the confidence, integrity, and availability of the information in IoT systems, sometimes is needed to add external security measures. One way to do this is by using logs. This work presents an architecture and implementation of the integration of xAPI to an MQTT-based IoT application, to have a logging system that allows admin personnel to monitor traffic and identify spoofing attacks performed by illegal publishers.
