IoT-Based Real-Time Sensor Monitoring and Actuation: A Simulation-Driven Approach with LoRaWAN

This research introduces a simulation-driven methodology for real-time sensor monitoring and actuation within IoT systems, utilizing LoRaWan technology to optimize data transmission efficiency. The central aim of this research is to design and implement a comprehensive simulation environment that accurately models the functionality of various IoT sensors, and their subsequent data transmission via LoRaWAN over Ethernet. Central to this approach is the integration of a C++ library and a custom simulation environment that mimics the behavior of various sensors and actuators, such as those monitoring oxygen levels, respiration, falls, and position, while using LoRaWAN for efficient communication. The framework supports iterative testing, performance evaluation, and system scalability, providing a foundation for future deployment in real-world scenarios. The proposed research aims to address the complexities of the IoT system architecture by integrating both client and server components to simulate sensor behavior, data collection, and communication processes. The insights gained from this work will contribute to optimizing the design and deployment of robust IoT systems, with future efforts directed toward refining the simulation model, incorporating real LoRaWAN gateways, and enhancing aspects of security and scalability to support secure and reliable IoT networks in various areas such as medical services, environmental monitoring, and Intelligent systems.
