A Multipurpose Control Approach for Grid Interactive PV-BS System with Enhanced Power Quality

An enhanced adaptive notch filter-adaptive affine projection (EANF-AAP) based control strategy is presented in this article for a three-phase grid-interactive photovoltaic battery storage (GIPBS) system. During the grid-interactive mode (GIM), the connected loads are fed by the PV, grid, and BS, depending on availability. The grid power quality is affected by the connected nonlinear loads and PV intermittency, which the proposed AAPbased algorithm addresses. Further, the grid voltage disturbance, like the grid voltage distortions and the presence of DC offset, is addressed by the EANF-based algorithm. Similarly, PV and BS supply the load without grid or standalone mode (SM). Therefore, a proper power management scheme (PMS) is provided in the paper for a smooth power flow in the system during GIM and SM despite different uncertainties. Further, the EANF-based phase error minimization algorithm is utilized as a synchronization technique for a smooth shift during GIM to SM and SM to GIM. Additionally, the performance of the EANF-AAP scheme is compared with state-of-art control techniques. The efficacy of the proposed control technique is validated on a GIPBS laboratory prototyped system satisfying IEEE 519, 1547 standards.
