Enhancing English Pronunciation and Word Differentiation Through Virtual Reality: A Study on Interactive Learning and Training

This paper introduces a Virtual Reality (VR) system designed to enhance English pronunciation training by focusing on word pairs with similar sounds but different meanings. The system integrates auditory perception, user speech input, and interactive physical tasks to strengthen learners’ ability to distinguish between homophones and other easily confused word groups. Through immersive environments, learners engage with both audio and visual cues, performing tasks that require accurate pronunciation and comprehension. To evaluate the system’s effectiveness, 20 participants were assessed before and after training with the VR system. The results showed a significant improvement in the learners’ ability to differentiate these confusing word pairs. Additionally, the system boosted motivation and engagement during the learning process, demonstrating the potential of VR-based language training to improve pronunciation and overall language acquisition.
