The Impact of Gamification on Learning Outcomes in Sign Language Educational Games

Sign language is a vital means of communication for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. However, traditional sign language instruction faces significant challenges, including low student motivation, poor engagement, and suboptimal learning outcomes. While gamification has demonstrated effectiveness in various educational domains, its application to sign language learning remains underexplored. This study aims to determine whether playing video games can improve the learning of sign language and make it more dynamic and interesting, by making it more engaging and interactive. By incorporating game design elements, such as rewards, challenges, and social interaction, we can further increase learner motivation and participation, resulting in more effective sign language learning outcomes.
