An Effective Basis Function Generation Structure for Digital Pre-Distortion in Wideband Scenarios

This paper introduces a precise behavioral modeling and digital pre-distortion (DPD) technique for wideband power amplifiers (PAs) with an effective basis function generation structure. The hierarchical structure constructs a set of basis functions to represent complex nonlinearities through the multiplicative combinations of individual terms. Considering the complexity of wideband PAs' nonlinearity, the proposed model incorporates additional nonlinear memory terms to enhance the accuracy of modeling and DPD performance. Experimental results on a Doherty PA with 200 MHz QAM signal demonstrate that the proposed method can reach a better modeling and linearization performance, while reducing model coefficients and enabling the rapid search for basis functions.
