Research on 3D Pulsed Electric Field Sensor Based on D-dot Asymptotic Conical Antenna

This paper addresses the need for ultra-wideband high power microwave electric field testing. In order to overcome the drawbacks of existing three-dimensional pulsed electric field sensors—which are either costly or offer a limited measurement bandwidth—a design study was conducted for a three-dimensional omnidirectional pulsed electric field sensor based on a D-dot asymptotic conical antenna. A simulation model of the three-dimensional sensor was developed, and the effects of antenna height, structural configuration, and dimensional parameters on the sensor's frequency-domain response were analyzed. Using a bipolar ultra-wideband high power microwave pulsed waveform as the excitation, the impacts of the sensor and the load impedance on the test results were also investigated. The findings of this study can serve as a reference for the design of three-dimensional electric field sensors based on D-dot asymptotic conical antenna.
