Novel Detection Model for Wideband Noise Figure Measurement with Power Method

This paper introduces a novel improvement method for noise coefficient measurement from the perspective of signal analysis. Compared with traditional methods, this approach utilizes the most common microwave power meter in microwave laboratories as the primary testing tool, enabling convenient enhancement of the reflection effect of noise figure (NF) analyzers over a wide frequency range. First, it is demonstrated that precision attenuators can improve noise testing and offer advantages in broadband operation. Second, the necessary instruments and experimental procedures for implementing this method are provided. Additionally, suitable formulas are derived to support the measurement process. Finally, a method for evaluating measurement uncertainty is proposed. The results indicate that this method effectively reduces the introduction of uncertainty and expands the testing capabilities for noise coefficients.
