A 12.75-Tb/s/mm Crosstalk Cancellation Transceiver with Inter-Channel Bit Smoothing Coding for High Density Die-to-Die Interfaces

A 12.75-Tb/s/mm crosstalk cancellation (XTC) transceiver is investigated for high-density Die-to-Die Interfaces. An XTC scheme based on Inter-Channel Bit Smoothing Coding (ICBS) is proposed to improve the signal integrity. Through reducing inter-channel bit transitions, the ICBS transceiver can lower 52.2% of the single-end far-end crosstalk (FEXT). In addition, this paper also analyzes the XTC performance of the transceiver under different channels. The post-extraction simulation results reveal that, on a high-density on-chip channel with FEXT of -4.1dB, the proposed transceiver demonstrates a 73% jitter reduction at 15-Gb/s/pin using a 28 nm CMOS process.
