Enhancing Space Communication with DPSK-OFDM Modulation in Li-Fi and Free-Space Optics

This paper addresses the issue of future space communication systems by proposing an advanced DPSK-OFDM modulation scheme with the help of a different technology including light fidelity and free-space optics. The main objective is destroying the phases of noise along with atmospheric turbulence and ISI, which is a major degrading factor in communications by optical wireless systems. The importance of the study is that it takes advantage of the DPSK phase-noise robustness and the OFDM spectral efficiency into a Li-Fi-based architecture which is further simulated by the OptiSystem platform. The simulation results show that this system is capable of achieving a Bit Error Rate as low as 90% and about 45% higher data throughput when compared to data transferred via conventional On-Off Keying (OOK) and BPSK-based Li-Fi-FSO systems. Moreover, the established system demonstrates robust link stability for long distances up to a thousand kilometers under diverse atmospheric conditions. Results thus obtained pixels DPSK-OFDM-based links as an attractive alternative for future deep-space and inter-satellite connectivity options over RF communication.
