An Ultra-Low ppm/°C Current-Trimmed Bandgap Reference with High-Order Curvature Compensation

This paper presents a high-accuracy bandgap reference (BGR) with high-order curvature compensation technique. The proposed high-order compensation is implemented by injecting currents from differential pairs to minimize temperature coefficient. At the same time, the proposed circuit uses a current-based trimming circuit to get higher precision when facing PVT problems. A start-up circuit that can be controlled is also designed in the network. The proposed bandgap reference is designed in 55 nm hlmc CMOS process. The best temperature coefficient (TC) of designed bandgap is 0.77 ppm/°C with the temperature range of 165°C (- 40 ~125°C), comparing to 13.31 ppm/°C without high-order compensation. Additionally, the bandgap can achieve a start-up time of 5.7 μs and a -72.73 dB PSRR at 100 Hz.
