Integrating Camera Technology and Sound Frequencies to Mitigate Wildlife-Caused Crop Damage

The intersection between agriculture and wildlife often results in significant challenges, particularly regarding the protection of crops from damage caused by various animal species. This issue leads to substantial financial losses for farmers and negatively impacts agricultural productivity and food security. Traditional mitigation methods, such as physical barriers and chemical deterrents, are often ineffective in the long term and pose environmental risks. This paper proposes a sustainable approach that integrates advanced camera technology with sound frequency-based deterrents to create an intelligent wildlife monitoring and repelling system. The system leverages real-time object detection using the YOLOv8 model and ultrasonic sound frequencies to deter animals while preventing habituation through dynamically varying sound patterns. This study presents a comprehensive analysis of the methodology, technological frameworks, and potential scalability of the system, demonstrating its capability to provide an eco-friendly alternative to conventional crop protection strategies.
