Virtual Reality in Industrial Training: A Case Study on Distillery Operator Education

This study explores the application of virtual reality (VR) in industrial settings, specifically focusing on the training of distillery operators. VR offers unique advantages, such as cost-effective and safe training environments, enabling users to practice complex tasks without real-world risks. The project aimed to develop a VR application that simulates realistic distillery processes and equipment, providing users with hands-on experience in a controlled environment. The application was built using advanced 3D modeling and simulation techniques to replicate key operational tasks, such as valve manipulation, equipment monitoring, and process optimization. Interactive elements, including operational manuals and alarm systems, were incorporated to enhance usability. Additionally, random event scenarios, such as equipment malfunctions, were introduced to challenge trainees and improve decision-making under pressure. The system supports both immersive VR and desktop environments, ensuring accessibility and scalability for diverse training needs. This work demonstrates the potential of VR to revolutionize industrial training by improving safety, efficiency, and user engagement. Future development will focus on extending functionality, incorporating artificial intelligence for adaptive training, and exploring its applications in other industrial domains.
