Online Synthesis of Wideband Polarized Beams for Flexible Phased Array

Flexible phased arrays with reconfigurable structures enable dynamic aperture adjustment and provide greater degrees of freedom, while polarization techniques further improve target recognition. High-resolution recognition systems often rely on wideband signals, but existing beam synthesis methods suffer from main lobe inconsistency, weak sidelobe suppression, and limited polarization performance. To address these issues, this letter proposes an online synthesis method for wideband polarized beams employing a flexible phased array. A modal method is first applied to reconstruct the array geometry model, correcting for deformation errors. Beam optimization is then achieved by incorporating elliptical polarization constraints to ensure polarization matching. Finally, the wideband beam synthesis problem is reformulated as a second-order cone programming to minimize main lobe beamwidth error, while simultaneously ensuring sidelobe suppression and polarization matching across the entire frequency band. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method significantly excels in simultaneously taking into account beam synthesis accuracy, polarization matching, and computational efficiency.
