Educational LabVIEW PWM Generator for Switching Power Converter Applications

This paper presents the development of an educational Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) generator using the LabVIEW graphical programming environment, aimed at facilitating the study and experimentation of DC/DC and DC/AC converter applications. The proposed system provides a user-friendly interface for real-time control and visualization of PWM signals, allowing students and researchers to adjust key parameters such as frequency, duty cycle, and signal shape. The solution is designed to interface with standard microcontroller-based driver circuits, enabling practical implementation and testing of various power converter topologies, including buck, boost, buck-boost DC/DC converters, hard-switching and soft-switching inverters. The educational tool enhances the learning process by bridging theoretical concepts with hands-on experimentation, making it particularly suitable for laboratory use in power electronics and electrical engineering courses.
