A Gain Enhanced Dual Band Wearable Microstrip Antenna for IoT Band

This work introduces a gain enhanced dual-band wearable microstrip patch antenna that can be used for IoT (Internet of Things) applications. The patch is integrated with four rectangular corner cuts, an inverted U-shaped slot and a circular slot embedded inside a narrow rectangular slot near the center. A textile material called Fleece is taken as dielectric substrate, having dimension of $0.67 \lambda_{0} \times 0.6 \lambda_{0} \times 0.012 \lambda_{0}$. The proposed antenna can operate in the lower band within $2.45-2.49 \text{GHz}$ with a return loss of 19.61 dB and within $5.55-5.68 \text{GHz}$ in the higher band with a return loss of 20.39 dB. The antenna achieves a maximum gain of 4.2 dBi and 11.82 dBi at 2.48 GHz and 5.68 GHz respectively. The proposed gain enhanced dual-band wearable antenna can effectively be integrated into IoTbased healthcare monitoring systems.
