Large Aperture Liquid Prism With Extended Deflection Range

Traditional liquid prisms face challenges in achieving large aperture and wide deflection angle. In this letter, a large aperture liquid prism with mechanical drive is proposed. Four baffle plates are used in the prism cavity to achieve rigid constraints on the movement of the deflector at the L-L interface. The proposed device achieves the deflection of one-dimensional FOV with a large aperture of 16 mm and a deflection angle of 7.4°(±3.7°). The proposed device can also realize two- dimensional scanning by stacking two identical prisms together. This work addresses key limitations of existing liquid prisms, providing new solutions for applications in optical scanning, imaging, and adaptive systems.
