The Influence of Teacher Support on Learning Engagement in an Online Learning Context: The Chain Mediating Effect of Positive Academic Emotions and Online Learning Innovation Behavior

With the rapid development of information technology, online learning environment has become an important part of higher education. However, how to improve students' engagement in online learning environment has become a key issue. This study reveals the relationship between teacher support and students' learning engagement in online learning environment, and further explores the chain mediating role of positive academic emotions and online learning innovation behavior. A total of 503 students from a public university in eastern China participated in this study. The results show that: (1) teacher support significantly and positively predicted students' online learning engagement; (2) positive academic emotions mediated the relationship between teacher support and online learning engagement; (3) online learning innovative behavior mediated the relationship between teacher support and online learning engagement; (4) positive academic emotions and online learning innovative behavior had a chain mediating effect on the relationship between teacher support and learning engagement. This study provides evidence for improving learning engagement in online learning.
