A Study of the Effectiveness of Immersive Virtual Reality for Knowledge Transfer*

Immersive virtual reality provides learners with a highly authentic and interactive learning environment through the participation of multiple senses, which shows great potential in promoting knowledge transfer. This study employs a design-based research approach to develop and validate a virtual learning scenario aimed at enhancing learning transfer. The experiment involved a comparative analysis between a microteaching group and a virtual reality (VR) teaching group. The findings reveal that, compared to the microteaching group, the VR teaching group significantly improved students’ transfer efficiency and self-efficacy, particularly in the acquisition of procedural knowledge. These results underscore the potential of immersive virtual reality as a powerful tool for enhancing knowledge transfer in educational settings.
