Smart Retrofit Drainage System IoT-Driven Solution for Urban Flood Mitigation

Aging infrastructure and spontaneous urbanization tend to create poor drainage, flooding, and ineffective water management in cities. Conventional drainage systems are excessively dependent on manual inspections, which are expensive, reactive, and inefficient. This paper suggests the implementation of a Smart Drainage Retrofitting System based on IoT technology that has real-time monitoring and automated alarm systems for optimized drainage performance. IoT sensors and cloud computing reduce operational expenses and flood hazards by sensing blockages, water levels, and poisonous gases ahead of time. The system enables wiser, more sustainable water management and less maintenance effort while improving resilience to climaterelated disasters. Real-time data also enables long-term urban development and preventive drainage maintenance. The suggested system integrates IoT-based sensing, real-time alerting, and cloud-based data logging and hence is a scalable, efficient, and sustainable solution to urban drainage and floodrelated issues.
