Co-Optimization Strategy of VSG Parameters Incorporating Energy Storage Characteristics

When a disturbance occurs in the system, although the system controlled by a traditional Virtual Synchronous Generator (VSG) with fixed parameters or basic parametric adaptive control strategy improves the transient characteristics to some extent, it does not consider the DC-side energy storage characteristics, which reduces the service life of the energy storage. Aiming at this problem, a VSG parameter co-optimization method is proposed in the paper. Firstly, the basic principle of VSG is described, and then the influence of different parameters on its output characteristics is analyzed by establishing its mathematical model. The dynamic response of the VSG system under different damping states is analyzed to derive its relationship with the energy storage characteristics and the optimal working damping ratio in the dynamic process, while the inertia link is introduced in the parameter co-optimization to better integrate the energy storage characteristics. The improved control can not only realize the integration of VSG and energy storage characteristics but also improve the transient stability and response speed of the system. Finally, the effectiveness of the control strategy is verified by Simulink simulation, and the results show that the parameter co-optimization strategy adopted in this paper can realize the stable operation of the VSG under the disturbed state.
