Real-Time Production Monitoring System: An IoT and Open-Source Solution for SMEs

This study presents the development of a realtime production monitoring system utilizing Internet of Things (IoT) technology and open-source platforms to enhance production efficiency and reduce costs for SMEs. The system addresses challenges such as the lack of real-time data and inefficient data management by employing low-cost devices and software, including ESP32 and Grafana, with real-time data displayed through dashboards and mobile devices. Trials in actual production lines demonstrated increased efficiency, reduced downtime, and labor overtime savings of over 66,000 THB within 12 days. Additionally, the collected data supports process improvement planning and preventive maintenance, making this system a cost-effective solution for SMEs seeking to transition to digital manufacturing efficiently and sustainably
