A High-Performance Flux Modulated Arc Motors with Dual-PM Excitation

This paper proposes a novel dual-stator flux modulated permanent magnet (PM) arc motors with dual excitation, which achieves high output torque and PM utilization rate through the placement of bilateral excitation PMs. The topological structure of the motor is described, and the mechanism and operating principle by which the motor improves the utilization rate of PMs are explained through theoretical analysis. A multi-objective intelligent optimization method and finite element method are used to optimize the motor. Finally, a comparative analysis of the electromagnetic performance of the proposed motor with two conventional motors in conducted to validate the superiority of the proposed motor.
