Ekblom Promoting Adaptive Algorithm with Variable Projection Order for Echo Cancellation

Echo cancellation plays a crucial role in speech signal processing, with adaptive filtering algorithms widely used due to their real-time performance. However, fixed-parameter adaptive algorithms cannot adapt to dynamic acoustic environments. To address these limitations, a proportionate-type Ekblom-norm promoting adaptive algorithm with variable projection order (VPO-PEPAA) is proposed. This algorithm incorporates a proportionate scheme based on the original method, creating a proportional matrix through correlation estimation to handle echo system sparsity. Additionally, the variable projection order (VPO) method is employed to balance convergence speed and steady-state error by updating the projection order using output signal information from the previous iteration. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm outperforms others in complex echo cancellation scenarios.
