An Efficient Modified Circular Shaped Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) for Antenna Performance Improvement

In this design, antenna design for 5G wireless communication uses a slotted circular shaped EBG development to enhance its performance. The circular shaped patch featuring four square-shaped slots on four tiny rectangular slits makes up a component of the structure. This suggested layout's geometric measurements are $23 \times 23 ~\text{mm}^{2}$. According to the simulation outcomes, the unit cell displays stopband characteristics with a 5.7 GHz centre frequency. At 5.71 GHz, the unitcell offers entire stopband results with a reflection coefficient of 0.1 dB. Furthermore, greater radiation performance can be obtained by the EBG unitcells above the inset coupled rectangular patch antenna. Upon integration with this EBG arrangement, a substantial increase in antenna realized gains of about 1.8 dB and 21 % impedance bandwidth at operating frequency 5.7 GHz is attained.
