Voltage and Current Ripple Analysis in a 15-Level MMC-Connected Induction Motor Drive

For decades, multilevel converters (MC) have been suggested for high- and medium-level power applications. It is among the most widely used converters because it can reduce the output waveform's harmonic distortion without lowering the converter's power output. Modular multilevel converters (MMCs), are a potential technology for MTDC systems that could soon give rise to the idea of grids. MMC stands for modularity, minimized di/dt and dv/dt stress on devices, scalable power and voltage, built-in fault blocking capability, transformer-less operation, and enhanced power quality. For over ten years, modular multilevel converters (MMCs) have been used in industrial motor drive applications, particularly in induction motor drive applications. This study examines the 15 -level MMC fed induction motor's performance using MATLAB and analyses the simulation's findings. The simulation analysis is conducted on the operation of the grid's voltage and current, the inverter's output voltage, motor voltage, and circulating current and its ripple for a 15 level MMC fed induction motor drive.
