Gain Enhancement of Microstrip patch Antenna Using FSS Superstrate Layer for Wi-Fi and WLAN Application

This research suggests a frequency-selective surface (FSS) microstrip patch antenna (MPA) for WLAN and wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) scenarios. The dual-band MPA used in this work operates at 2.4 GHz for Wi-Fi and 5 GHz for WLAN. The rectangular patch used in this dual-band microstrip patch antenna has a slot in the intermediate to boost the antenna's gain. CST (computer simulation technology) has been used to analyze, design, and model the antenna with FSS. The substrate is FR-4 material since it is affordable and used for educational purposes. The FSS is constructed as a 4*4 unit cell array in the antenna's upper layer. Gain at 5 GHz increased, and VSWR < 2 when FSS was merged. The suggested antenna exhibits good gain, directivity, VSWR, and return loss.
