Design of Broadband Circularly Polarized Magneto-Electric Dipole Antenna Array

This paper focuses on the design of broadband circularly polarized magneto-electric dipole antenna array. Aiming at the shortcomings of existing designs in broadband characteristics, circular polarization performance and array layout optimization, an antenna array layout algorithm based on improved PSO is proposed. By introducing adaptive inertia weight and dynamic learning factor, the global search and local convergence capabilities of the algorithm are effectively improved. During the design phase of antenna array, the paper chooses a rectangular topology structure according to radiation characteristics and array pattern. Using the ANSYS HFSS software, the simulation model was built. Simulation results show that for 4-8 GHz antenna unit return losses are below -10 dB, band width less than 3 dB, band width is 4.2-7.8 GHz, and gain is 5-7 dBi. After optimization of antenna array, main lobe pointing accuracy, side lobe level reduction 5 dB and array gain 3 dB. The design provides a new approach for the development of broadband circularly polarized antenna arrays.
