Bioengineering for a motion device: application to racewalkers and rehabilitation patients

The PhD research project focuses on biomedical related rehabilitation processes post surgical intervention and post injuries. The goal is to define a device able to monitor and acquire parameters related to a person’s well-being and prevent chronic degenerative diseases to optimize the training and rehabilitation phases. The device is a general purpose one that might also be able to fulfill the requirements of a personalized rehabilitation process that can be of interest for clinicians as well as for well-being sport practitioners. We design a general purpose device by integrating motion acquisition sensors that have been integrated in a programmable tool. The device has also been tuned by considering: (i) clinical rehabilitation process for post leg injury and (ii) step monitoring for race walkers.
