Full Stack Video Conferencing App using TypeScript and NextJS

YOOM is a full-stack video conferencing application built with Next.js and TypeScript, utilizing the Stream API for real-time video communication and the Clerk API for secure user management. Designed to cater to both small and large- scale virtual meetings, YOOM offers key features such as instant meetings, screen sharing, and recording capabilities, improving user experience across diverse use cases. Experimental results demonstrate its reliability, achieving an average call latency of 50 ms and consistent performance with 10 to 50 concurrent users. By integrating modern frameworks and APIs, YOOM provides a solution that is scalable, secure, and efficient to meet the rising demand for intuitive video conferencing tools. User feedback highlights its easy-to-use interface and personalization options, supporting its usability. Development included extensive testing under various network conditions, ensuring resilience and stability. YOOM’s architecture offers insights for devel- oping future real-time communication applications leveraging cutting-edge web technologies. While it fulfills core require- ments, future improvements—such as mobile optimization and AI-driven features—are planned to enhance functionality and address limitations like reliance on third-party APIs. This work showcases a robust, practical approach to building advanced video conferencing platforms.
