Tableau Driven Insights and Trends of Road Accidents in Kerala from 2018 to 2023

This study analyzes road accident data from Kerala, spanning 2018 to 2023, to explore critical factors influencing regional road safety. The Tableau driven analysis identifies speeding as the leading cause of accidents, with driver fatigue and poor road conditions contributing significantly. The research compares accident trends across different road types, revealing that while National and State Highways have better infrastructure, rural roads remain high-risk zones for severe accidents due to inadequate maintenance. The study also observes the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on accident frequency, noting a decrease in accidents but an unchanged severity rate. Findings emphasize the need for improved infrastructure, particularly on rural roads, stricter enforcement of traffic regulations, and public awareness campaigns. The results serve as a foundation for future predictive models to identify high-risk areas and guide targeted interventions to improve road safety in Kerala.
