Design and Realization of Gysel Power Divider & Combiner for High Power Handling in C-Band

This paper describes the design and realization of a Gysel power divider & combiner capable of pulse RF power handling up to hundreds of watts in C-band. The designed & realized micro strip Gysel power divider (GPD) has an insertion loss better than 3.6 dB over the frequency band 5.4-5.9 GHz. The measured bandwidth for 15dB return loss is 8.8% while the isolation between two output ports is better than 19 dB. Good agreement between simulated and measured results is seen. Further two GPDs have been used to generate more than 500 W of pulsed power in the C-band by combining 2 solid state pulsed power amplifiers with good stability over the frequency band. Roger 6035 HTC with design dielectric constant of 3.6 with 20 mils thickness is used to implement GPD.
