Adaptive Sliding Mode Control for DC-DC Buck Converter

DC-DC converters are commonly used in DC microgrids to provide a consistent DC voltage to generation and storage components. Changing the load state has an impact on the voltage quality in converters. This study presents an adaptive sliding mode control to perform output reference voltage tracking of a buck converter. The primary aim is to determine the voltage across the load, which will aid in the tracking of an output reference voltage. To do this, the state space averaging method is employed to model the DC-DC buck converter. The formula for the continuous controller is then generated using the adaptive sliding mode control technique. The Lyapunov theorem is used to assess the stability of the buck converter. The applicability of the proposed controller is assessed through simulation. When compared to an existing controller, the results show improved reference voltage tracking capability with less overshoots and settling time. Furthermore, a comparative study ensures the effectiveness of the proposed controller.
