Design and Application of Gamified Teaching Mode of Primary School Programming Course Based on ARCS Model

In recent years, with the arrival of the digital era, programming education has attracted much attention, and many countries have incorporated programming education into the basic education curriculum; however, in the process of carrying out programming education, there are problems of students' lack of attention, self-confidence, and classroom satisfaction brought about by the traditional way of teaching, which affects students' motivation to learn and creates obstacles to the development of programming education. Based on this, this study constructs a gamification teaching model based on ARCS motivation model under the guidance of achievement motivation theory, self-efficacy theory and constructivism theory. In order to verify the effectiveness of this model, this study takes 109 students in the sixth grade of elementary school as the experimental subjects and divides them into control class and experimental class to carry out teaching practice. The experimental results show that the model can effectively improve students' attention, self-confidence and satisfaction, and enhance students' motivation to learn. Therefore, the gamification teaching model of elementary school programming based on the ARCS motivation model is feasible and provides new ideas for improving the existing classroom teaching problems.
