A 12-Gb/s Single-Ended Transmitter with Echo-Canceling FFE for Multi-Drop Bus in 28Nm CMOS

This paper presents a 12-Gb/s single-ended transmitter (TX) with echo-canceling feed-forward equalizer (FFE) to eliminate reflections in a multi-drop bus. The TX achieves a bit-errorrate (BER) below 10⁻¹² and maintains its performance across various multi-drop channels with stub lengths ranging from 8 cm to 12 cm. The TX achieves an energy efficiency of 1.52 pJ/b and occupies $0.01 \text{mm}^{2}$ of active area in 28 nm CMOS.
