PyRBD++: An Open-Source Fast Reliability Block Diagram Evaluation Tool

Reliability Block Diagrams (RBDs) are visual aids that assess a system's availability based on its dependencies on its components and their interconnections. Extending this concept to networks, a flow's availability between any source and destination can be computed using the network RBD. For large network topologies, computing flow availability is memory and time-intensive. Hence, this work introduces (i) our novel method to evaluate flow availability based on minimal cut sets (MCSs) and boolean algebra, and (ii) PyRBD++, our open-source tool to evaluate flow availability in large topologies. Furthermore, we test PyRBD++'s simulation time and complexity on six topologies and compare its performance against the state of the art. Although we focus on networks, PyRBD++ is applies to any system.
