Performance-Driven System Design for Multi-Access Edge Computing

Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) brings computing capabilities closer to the 5G radio access network edge, improving service quality and user experience. Integrating service mesh capabilities into the MEC architecture is one way to further enhance system performance. In this article, we proposed a cloud-native system design to ensure the optimal performance of MEC services. We also defined the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that can be measured in the environment to identify issues affecting users and applications quickly. These metrics include resources, networks, services, quality, and cost. Additionally, we highlight the importance of KPIs in MEC optimization and the challenges in measuring MEC performance.
