Real-Time Population of a Retail Digital Twin with Product Inventory and Location Using RFID Sensors

This paper describes a real implementation in a large number of stores of a digital twin populated with realtime product inventory and location of the products in the store using an array of overhead RFID sensors. This is the first ever deployment at scale of such a system. In the paper we present the motivation, the HW and SW architecture, the inventory and location algorithms used, the details of the implementation, and the results obtained after several months in operation. Finally, the next steps and the vision for the future are discussed.
