A Fuzzy-Based Harmony Search Method for Optimizing the Traveling Salesman Problem

Over the past few decades, significant progress has been made in the development of evolutionary techniques for solving optimization problems. As time has passed, these techniques have evolved, and new algorithms have been introduced to enhance performance. This paper presents a modification of the Harmony Search algorithm, incorporating fuzziness to improve its effectiveness in solving the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP). The performance of the proposed approach is evaluated through benchmarking tests and a comparative study, contrasting the results obtained with both the traditional Harmony Search and Fuzzy Harmony Search algorithms. In addition, a practical real-world application is used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
