Optimization of Grid-forming SVG Control Strategy for Simulating the Demagnetization Effect of Rotor Windings

In recent years, the transient overvoltage problem in renewable energy aggregation areas has become an important factor restricting the transmission of renewable energy. This paper focuses on the analysis of the grid-forming SVG for suppressing the overvoltage at the moment of fault clearance. Firstly, the basic principle of the grid-forming SVG is analyzed. Through the analysis, it is concluded that the models where the internal voltage that has been raised needs a certain time to decrease and thus change the current output still have the risk of amplifying the transient overvoltage. Secondly, the characteristics of the synchronous condenser in suppressing the transient overvoltage are analyzed, and the rotor demagnetization link is simulated to optimize the control of the grid-forming SVG. Then, the control parameters of the grid-forming SVG are selected according to certain parameter setting principles, and the control stability requirements are met through characteristic root analysis. Finally, the effectiveness of the grid-forming SVG in suppressing the transient overvoltage by simulating the rotor winding demagnetization effect is verified through RTDS electromagnetic transient simulation.
