Measurement of Particle Concentration Distribution for Pipeline Erosion Prediction Based on EMT

In the field of special equipment inspection, the accurate prediction of pipeline erosion is vital for maintaining equipment safety. A key component to achieving this is the real-time accurate measurement of particle concentration distribution in the pipeline. Aiming at the problem, a real-time measurement method of particle concentration distribution is proposed based on Electromagnetic Tomography (EMT) technology. Initially, the absolute permeability distribution of particles in the cross-section of pipeline is reconstructed based on EMT using the pre-iterative Landweber algorithm and a linear mapping. Then, based on the theory of equivalent media, the absolute permeability distribution is converted to particle concentration distribution. The simulation results of different particle concentration distributions show that the proposed method can reconstruct high-quality images of particle concentration distributions. The dynamic experiment results of pipeline erosion indicate that the particle clusters with high-concentration in the pipeline can be accurately identified, and the distribution can accurately reflect the changes of the fluids. The proposed method has significant application value for the safety monitoring and management of special equipment.
